The Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship housed in the Foisie Innovation Studio is the logical extension of the WPI Plan. The Plan is about combining theory and practice to solve problems of consequence. The Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship will help student teams take those solutions further for greater impact on society, by providing mentoring, advising, and other business planning and development assistance.
The Center will encompass (physically and virtually) the McDonough Business Incubator, Tech Advisors Network, WPI Entrepreneurs-in-Residence, the Entrepreneurship and Innovation “Skunkworks,” and the WPI Accelerator Fund. Housing these resources in the same facility where student teams will be developing solutions to complex problems makes perfect sense. Students will be only a few steps away from the advice of experienced entrepreneurs and critical resources to advance their ideas and improve their skills as engineers and scientists.
